Although they rehearse in Wilmington, Massachusetts, the 57 active members of the all-female Merrimack Valley Chorus are from across southern New Hampshire and eastern Massachusetts. Some are retired. Some have demanding jobs. Others are stay-at-home moms. Their director, Eileen Geo, keeps spirits high and high notes clear due to her love for the international organization, the Sweet Adelines, which can be found across five continents. The Chorus members dedicate themselves to advancing the “close harmony” of the barbershop genre through education, competition, and performance. With multi-generational participants at all levels of musicianship – some read music, while others don’t -- Eileen inspires all to the highest level of barbershop singing. The group prefers extremely colorful, sparkly, and eye-catching dresses—with sweet voices to match.
